“In actione consistit vita”
(Creating is the essence of life – Julius Caesar)
Gert Lammerts has been interested in all forms of art from an early age.
After completing his studie architecture, he continued at the Academy of Visual Arts and Architecture.
He works as a designer at an architectural firm where he has a preference for contemporary architecture; functionalism with a minimalist direction. His designs are characterized by a clear and readable design with room for interpretation.
In addition to architecture, Gert has had an interest in photography for a long time. However, it was not until 2011 that he started working with models for the first time. In all forms of model photography, over the years he has developed a preference for artistic nude photography, where his greatest source of inspiration is (classical) sculpture. The emphasis of his images is always on the poses and to a lesser extent on the model itself. Shapes, lines, muscle masses and the interplay of these play a major role. By directing the model and playing with light, he converts his ideas into images.
Or, as he often says: “I am more of a ‘directing’ than a ‘recording’ photographer.”
His preferences for clarity and minimalism are also clearly visible in his photography. His photos are often characterized by a clear subject, positioned within a subordinate environment.
Gert’s work is exhibited in galleries, halls and museums, both alone and together with other artists. His images also appeared in books, photography magazines and art calendars and he won various national and international photography prizes.
