Margarita van der Velden

I was born in Buenos Aires and my Argentinian background is often reflected in my work.

I have been creative with drawing and sculpting since my youth. After successfully completing my education at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague (1980-1984), I worked as a graphic designer for a long time and in 1985 I founded my own design agency under the name VeldWerk. However, after working on commission for a long time, the need to make free work became so great that I started making ceramics in 2001. I have a great preference for deep colors and a somewhat naive art style, which is clearly recognizable in all my images. Through my images I try to tell the viewer my story about what our world could look like without everyday drama.
