Marjanka is a visual artist and art historian. After the Fashion Academy, she studied Art and Cultural Sciences at the University of Amsterdam and obtained her masters degree in Art History, specializing in modern architecture. Trained as a creative thinker and performer, she devoted herself entirely to art in her studio in Bergen nh (NL) and Italy. Her work can be seen at (inter)national fairs, exhibitions in galleries and at art events and is purchased by art lovers from all over the \world from New York, Stockholm to Abu Dhabi.
Her work is guided by a fascination with material research. The composition for each work starts with an exposition of contrasting materials such as: Plexiglass, epoxy resin, acrylics, plaster mixtures and oxidations on wood, steel or canvas. How do these materials behave under different conditions? The end result is a composition of all materials that have interacted with each other. In the TECTONICS series, Marjanka investigates the effect of
different layers of material that seem to shift relative to each other like plates. They come together, slide past each other or drift apart. An intriguing image emerges of texture, color, light, shadow, reflections and lines.
