Monique Roodenburg once exchanged the theater for the camera to tell stories.

Creating a story and feeling is always central to her work. The themes she chooses often concern her personally, but are often recognizable to others, because everyone encounters them in his or her life.
She calls the images she makes ‘Frozen Theater’. The styling and atmosphere strive to transport the viewer to another reality. She likes to look for contrasts: a balance between ugly and beautiful, between hard and soft and light and dark, for example.

The making process often starts with collecting a lot of material and then funnels into a concept. Choosing the right model, the props, the setting and emphasizing the atmosphere in post-production help her to complete the story.

In recent years she has shown and sold her work nationally and internationally. She has also appeared several times on TV as a guest jury member at the Perfect Picture.
