Lilian Wessels

Visual artist Lilian Wessels studied Art & Design at Padworth College in England.
Back in the Netherlands, she studied anatomy for the artist, portrait drawing and sculpting/ceramic design.

She was captivated by the three-dimensional possibilities that this art form offers. Her travels to Africa have largely contributed to this. Lilian’s work expresses admiration for the African strong-willed woman, who wears her femininity proudly and confidently.

The strength in her sculptures is the use of materials, they reinforce each other. It is not an addition or decoration – it is a combination of techniques, which form, as it were, a voyage of discovery with no end in sight.

Each image is unique and has its own name with a specific meaning. The sculptures radiate warmth and intimacy. They are images with a soul.
