Els Vegter

Els Vegter creates abstract dream landscapes combined with robust materials. Patterns and colors in nature are her inspiration. As a material-woman, she loves creating and composing with oil, collage, materials and stuff from nature. Layers of oil create silent landscapes. My work is about the brush stroke, the imagination and the objets trouvés that determine the composition. Emptiness and stillness form the background of spherical scenes can make you to get lost.

Els studied sociology in Utrecht, had a job in public relations and was writing as a freelance journalist for different magazines. In her early fourties she chooses to be an artist and was educated by different teachers. In 2002 she started her work in her first studio. Nowadays she is living in Utrecht, painting and writing articles as well. She is married and has two grown-up sons.
