Katinka Krijgsman lives and works in Egmond, the North Holland village bordering the polder, dunes and sea. This Dutch soil is her source of inspiration. She combines her fantasy with everyday reality, a mischievous flirt with good dullness. The results are Delft Blue XL plates with a nostalgic atmosphere and a modern wink.
Each three-dimensional board is unique. They are all handmade and painted with oil paint into a pure Dutch scene in a poetic realistic style.
Two other common themes in her oil paintings are ‘fish and food’. Mackerel, herring, seafood or a fried egg, as long as the subject is slippery, shiny and elusive, she finds it fascinating to paint.
In 1987, Katinka Krijgsman graduated from the Utrecht School of the Arts as a theater designer and photographer. Since then she has provided photo and graphic design for Dutch theater productions, companies and institutions. A few years ago she decided to say goodbye to this work and start working full-time as a painter.
