Artwork: Paintings

Eelco Maan has been working as a visual artist since 1994. Initially experimenting with figurative, fauvist and surrealist elements – with influences from Klee, Miró and CoBrA – his style gradually became more austere and abstract. His work is in the tradition of lyrical abstract art and has a very distinctive touch, with mystical undertones. The paintings have common ground with work by previous great artists, but have a compelling character of their own, recognizable in their authenticity.
Since 1995 his work has been exhibited solo and in groups regularly at galleries in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, England, Germany, Italy and Japan and at renowned art fairs in the Netherlands and abroad.
