Liliane Demeester

Liliane Demeester was born in Bruges (B) in 1958. She trained in Plastic Arts and specialized in ceramics at the Kunstakademie.

Her designs have not been studied in advance, they arise from a feeling and are always an urge to take up the challenge with the plastic material. The shape is created during the construction process.
The boundaries of possibilities are explored, aiming for the perfect, sleek form. A unique movement emerges from a sometimes simple pot shape. The clay seems to find its own way until there is a balance and the shape becomes, as it were, a dancing whole. The matte finish gives the work a soft appearance that makes you want to touch it. Color is very important here.
