Marlies Geldof (1986) is an artist with a special fascination for round organic shapes, structures, geometry and bright earthy tones. From colorful to sleek and from organic to geometric. There is a lot of variation in Marlies’ work. Characteristic are the often round panels on which the work is made and the use of synthetic resin.
Marlies likes to experiment. There are unique opportunities and truly surprising outcomes, according to her. This is reflected in, for example, the synthetic resin drops, matte and glossy combinations, coarse crackle techniques, optical illusion and shadow effects.
In terms of material, many of Marlies’ works are finished with a high-gloss synthetic resin layer. She also works with wood, brass, aluminum, acrylic paint, various crackle media, cement, gold leaf, pigments, spray paint and stone pedestals.
She mainly finds inspiration for her work in nature. The color, texture or shape can usually be traced to a natural process, such as cracked earth, rain, forest or swirling bodies of water.
After having walked several paths, art and creativity always turned out to be a common thread in her life and her true passion. Marlies now spends the vast majority of her time creating free work and assignments.
