Duo exhibition Verstappen & Lipsch

Maria Verstappen and Monique Lipsch will be presented in the month of March and partly April 2022

An entire corner of the gallery is devoted to Verstappen’s abstract paintings and Lipsch’s abstract sculptures.

Maria Verstappen

came into contact with paint and color at an early age in her parents’ painting business. There she helped mix and recommend paint and color. Color in particular proved to intrigue and inspire her. The art of Maria, (self-taught) is full of movement and intensity. Her paintings give herself as well as the viewer a sense of freedom. It is an awesome force, searching for a material form. Her paintings are like a raging sea and a still sky or a mysterious transformation.

Monique Lipsch

is an experienced sculptor based in the Netherlands whose works can be seen at home and abroad. She is fascinated by basic shapes, such as circles, as well as human forms. In her work, she constantly tries to give new dimensions to those forms. For example, she likes clean, simple lines and polished surfaces. She cites the limitation of materials as a welcome challenge in her artistic practice. Lipsch’s signature abstract pieces are usually made with bronze, epoxy or aluminum on wooden bases.
