Trijnie Mohlmann

Trijnie Mohlmann has specialized in encaustic painting, which was also used in Greek and Egyptian culture more than 2000 years ago.
She paints with melted beeswax on panel.
She adds pure color pigments to the beeswax and then incorporates ink, oil paint and sometimes paper and transfers of photos she has taken herself into the solidified layers of wax. The – sometimes subdued and sometimes exuberant – images that she creates not only allow the viewer to share in the encounters, travels and things that inspire Trijnie, but also provide room for free association and interpretation.

Trijnie graduated from the Academy of Visual Arts in Enschede in 1992. Lives in Groningen.
She has her studio in the Biotoop in Haren, the former biological center of the University of Groningen.
