“Learning to Fly” – a moment of letting go

A little girl, dressed in a onesie with wings, plays carefree while the world lurks around her. This new work by Hannes Verhoeven centers on his little daughter – a child growing up, discovering and eventually flying out. But always there is the protective gaze of a parent, knowing that the big world is full of challenges and dangers. The powerful contrast between the playful purity of the child and the menacing eagle touches a deep, universal emotion. A recognizable feeling for many.

Marble composite is a mixture of artificial casting resin, dyes (pigments) and finely ground marble.
