Artist Anoukart

Anouk van Tetering is also known as Anoukart. She photographs with great curiosity the details and secrets of small and invisible things around us that we no longer notice in a fast-paced society.

As in the diptych “hot” & “salty” (Salt and Pepper) in which she magnifies the grains of pepper and salt and zooms in on the structures of material you don’t often look at. Or see a picture full of stripes, lines, gloss and abstract shapes that seem to show another world, but it’s “just” the lid of an old paint can.

That’s what Anouk van Tetering does: showing the everyday things of life in a special way. It makes you wonder the moment you hear what it is.

Career

In 2018, her career gained momentum after an exhibition at Art Miami. In 2019, she exhibited in five different countries in cities such as London, Paris, Miami & New York. She makes small things in life play a big role in her work.

A scion of a family of artists, Anouk was born in The Hague and graduated from Amsterdam’s Rietveld Academy, having also spent time as an exchange student at London’s Chelsea College of Arts.

“Pausing for a moment to take a look so as not to overlook the beauty is an art. If you were to zoom in, a whole new world would open up to you. Everyday moments that often go unnoticed give Anouk a stage. She says: “Little things have their own beauty that we simply don’t notice anymore. In this age of fast, faster, fastest it is just magical to stop for a moment and observe something up close.”
