ROOTS Exhibition fall 2025
New exhibition at Sille Gallery: ROOTS
In the fall, we are proud to present ROOTS, an inspiring exhibition that brings together art and cultural diversity. In this exhibition we show artworks by artists who were born in other countries and have continued their creative path in the Netherlands or whose work conveys the theme of origin. In addition, we show work by international artists whom we represent here. A special combination with which we put this group in the spotlight in a different way.
The exhibition showcases the diversity of art fused into an inspiring whole. Different disciplines come together, from paintings and sculptures to photography and wall objects.
We cordially invite you to explore ROOTS and be inspired by the stories behind the art.
The artists in this group exhibition include. Stephanie van der Beek (Germany), Angelo Moyano (Spain), Liliane Demeester (Belgium), Hans Schüle (Germany), Mari Meszaros (Hungary), Babette Degraeve (Belgium), Jan Verschueren (Belgium), Tina Lintvelt (Germany), Margarita van der Velden (Argentina), Beddru (Italy), Gaïd Ombre (Suriname), Hans Withoos (Netherlands), Hannes Verhoeven (Netherlands), Jolanda Drukker Murray (Scotland) and Gosse Bouma (Netherlands).

Opening: Sunday, Oct. 26 at 2 p.m.
Exhibition period: Oct. 24 to Dec. 27, 2025
The collection features work by Stephanie van der Beek, born in Germany. She paints with air, ink and alcohol, a sophisticated technique that results in organic, glossy compositions. Together with her compatriots Hans Schüle and Tina Lintvelt, she represents German roots within this exhibition.
On display are intriguing, three-dimensional glass paintings by Italian artist Beddru. From Belgium we are showing sculptures by Liliane Demeester, Jan Verschueren and Babette Degraeve. From Gaïd Ombre, with Surinamese roots, we present an impressive portrait series.
The work of Angelo Moyano, with Spanish roots, will not be missing either. He is known for his large corten steel sculptures and smaller works in alabaster and bronze.
Mari Meszaros, born in Hungary, creates life-size torsos made of glass for the wall. Margarita van der Velden, raised in Argentina, translates her background into distinctive ceramic work.
There is also space for the work of four artists born here.
In his contemporary, surrealist photography, Hans Withoos interweaves the still-life and cityscape paintings of his famous ancestor Matthias Withoos, bringing together past and present into new art.
Although Jolanda Drukker Murray was born in the Netherlands, Scottish Murray blood flows through her veins. With her red hair and fiery passion, she feels deeply connected to both worlds: the rugged, proud of her Scottish roots and the bright light of her homeland.
Hannes Verhoeven draws inspiration for his sculptures from his childhood on the farm. He places his playful child figures, often references to himself and his sister playing in the countryside, in the context of current social issues.
Gosse Bouma, known for his misty photographs of Amsterdam, has been living in Oudewater for three years. For ROOTS we show a series of beautiful photographs of his new hometown, in which he captures the character and atmosphere of Oudewater in his own hushed way.
