Summer exhibition Sille AD Green Heart

People with one round and one square buttock: at this exhibition, all artworks are out of balance

Power woman Tamara Sille has been running her gallery Sille with modern and contemporary art in Oudewater for many years. Although she has a regular group of artists in her “stable,” every summer she invites everyone to create new works of art around a theme Tamara invents herself. This always results in a very diverse exhibition, as is the case this year with the theme “Off Balance.

”Look,” Tamara points to a seemingly dull still-life on the wall. ”See those lemons? And do you see that orange among them? That makes it completely unbalanced, but it makes it a lot more playful and therefore interesting,” Tamara explains.
And that is exactly what the Oudewater gallery owner is looking for for her summer exhibitions. Previous themes such as Tour de France, Red Pepper, Airy, Turn, Delft Blue, Mirror and Rhythm also produced many surprises. Because the exhibition is there for sale, the composition changes weekly.

Art Collection

Those expecting a white room full of paintings could still be surprised at Sille, because especially with this theme of “Off Balance,” a lot of sculptures were created. Take artist Saskia Hoeboer. Among other proverbs and sayings, she depicts a small man literally walking through the eye of the needle, forming a fine image.

The most expensive artwork is about 20,000 euros and is by former surgeon Samuel DeJong who put aside his surgical knives to make art. Fortunately, the rest are a little cheaper.

Sille is also very pleased with the ceramic sculptures by artist Hetty Kok who depicts people with only one arm, one leg or with one round and one square buttock. Flemish Jan Verschueren made from scrap iron several sculptures of people in which an elderly gentleman with an unusual head holds a spoon balanced in front of him.

The expo fromBalance will remain on view throughout the summer of 2022 at Sille Gallery in Oudewater.
