Jolanda Drukker Murray

Sculptor Jolanda Drukker Murray enjoys working with clay and expressing herself in organic forms. She is currently working in the “Frames of Nature” series of striking Mussel works that have an architectural feel. The form is appealing and shows closed mussels joined together.

The artist has a remarkably good sense of form and knows how to surprise in her choice of subjects. This is often not entirely logical and, when it comes to ceramics, is often “out of the box.

Her work is regularly shown in exhibitions and is now included in several domestic and foreign collections.

As a designer of ceramics, Jolanda draws inspiration from what she encounters on her travels.

Jolanda studied art history at Leiden University. She then took a number of art courses including the Visual Education course (instructor Carina Canton) in Sittard, painting course Atelier Van Gogh Museum (instructor Nicolas Dings) in Amsterdam and at Artibus in Utrecht the 3-year course to become an autonomous artist.

For the series “Circle of Life” (a life story in 10 kimonos), her work was on display at the KrΓΆller MΓΌller Museum.
As of May 2020, her work has been selected by Museum De Lakenhal.

Through several trips to Africa, she fell under the spell of this continent. First executed in clay, figures in concrete, wood and bronze soon followed. Odysseus and other mythological stories are also regularly central to her work such as her bird, king and ram women. Nature is also a recurring source of inspiration, as in her “Mussels” in the series “frames of nature.
