Summer exhibition 2026 theme Floating

This summer, Sille Gallery presents the special summer exhibition Floating. This contemporary art exhibition focuses on the theme of floating, with a large and varied collection of works by various artists. Get carried away along art that balances between movement and stillness, between above and below, and between reality and imagination.

Festive opening weekend

The grand opening weekend will take place on Saturday, June 27 & Sunday, June 28. On Saturday, June 27, the gallery will be open from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, with the official opening at 2:00 pm. On Sunday, June 28, everyone is welcome from 12:00 to 17:00 to admire the exhibition at leisure.

Visitors can expect an inspiring art experience in an atmospheric setting, where contemporary art and summer experience come together. Sille Gallery is known for its annual summer exhibitions, showcasing the work of both established artists and new talent. Painting, sculpture, photography and wall objects combine to form a rich and surprising collection that is always approached from one overarching theme.

Each year’s opening weekend is also an experience in itself. The area around the gallery is transformed into an atmospheric terrace with seating, music and culinary snacks and drinks. Visitors meet artists here, enjoy refreshing beer or a good glass of wine and toast together to the start of the new art season.

Previous years

The gallery with its summer exhibitions, which have a new theme each year, is now a household name in the region. Each year a new theme is chosen within a theme. It started in 2015 when the Tour de France passed by the gallery in Oudewater. That first summer we paired the cycling theme with the exhibition. In subsequent years, the themes were: Red Pepper, Airy, Rhythm, Delft Blue, Mirror, Turn, Out of Balance, Loose & Fixed, The Color and last year Growth.

Floating as a source of inspiration

Floating with the days: sometimes it comes naturally and you are carried by rhythm, expectations and everything around you. You move in a current larger than yourself, but how much influence do you really have on the direction? Can you just change course, or do you only notice you have drifted when you bump into something and are brought to a standstill? It is precisely in such a moment of standstill that awareness arises. Drifting requires trust: in yourself, in the process and in what is carrying you. That trust can be a driving force to stay above water when the going gets tough. We float with our environment, with atmospheres and times, but when do you consciously choose and when do you let go? What is your driving force?

After the grand opening weekend, the exhibition can be visited every Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Sept. 21, 2026.
